Day 91 - Stop...Declutter Time

Decluttering is a very messy job!!

What a day!! Since 9am this morning I have been decluttering the hell out of our bedroom and wardrobe/floordrobe, with hardcore ruthlessness and specific attention being actioned in my drawers that were quite literally bursting at the seams!! However, as of today, they barely recognise themselves!! Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew!!

From cram-central to scarce-city!! I didn't know these drawers had wooden bases!! LOL

Neat and tidy all the way.

I am SO proud of myself and how well I did today with my "cull to cleanse" attitude. One things for sure, you need to be in the mood to declutter otherwise it would be a very LONG day of hell. I was in the mood and ready to just get rid of everything!!

As a fellow blog poster pointed out, decluttering can be quite an emotional process and this is absolutely on the money. Today I came across, and got rid of things that had so many emotions and memories attached with them e.g. 1st lot of "work clothes", schoolies bikini, clubbing outfits, birthday presents, stuff I bought overseas etc...my day of culling took me on a journey through memory lane, taking me back through the past decade (and then some). Thankfully it wasn't a painful process for me, but can understand it being for some.

Little Miss Organised!!

I kept forgetting to take before shots, as I literally became a woman on a mission. I tried to stick by the mantra I set for today when deceiding between the big throw or the even bigger keep, that mantra being - everything you own should have value, either because it is functional, or beautiful, or you just love it.

Before - every bloody paper bag I have ever received!!

These bags dated back to 10 years ago...there were bags from shops that don't exist anymore and even the bag my Formal dress came in was amongst it, it wasn't even a cute bag ffs...yes I am confused as to why I have kept them...I remember my Emi asking if she could throw them out as I had left them there when I moved out of home and I was like NOOOOOOOOOOOO...so she made me take them with me one day, which I willingly did, they were uber heavy as there were a truckload, but I took them all...gosh I am SO weird, I cannot believe the things I hold onto sometimes!! LOL

After - recycled!!

The furkids were all very curious as to what on earth Mummy was up to and what was going on with the mess that just seemed to grow and grow, so they all kept a close eye on me throughout the day, which was really cute and a welcome break every now and then.

Minki checking out the mess.

Mojie hiding from the mess.

Monty sad he can't get through the mess. LOL

The result of today was blooming fabulous, I tried to keep a count in my head of what is going to a new home and it was approximately:
  • 17 Jeans/Pants/Pance/Shorts
  • 14 Tops/Singlets
  • 3 Skirts
  • 1 Dress
  • 5 Bags
  • 1 Pair of Boots
  • 3 Pairs of Heels (did a cull of these a few months back, but still found a few I will never wear again)
  • 1 Pair of Slippers
  • Loads of underwear
  • 10 Pairs of Stockings/Knee Highs
  • 5 Bikinis
Another whole bagful of stuff has gone straight into the bin, as it was as old as the hills and the people who made them. There are a few items of clothing that I haven't worn, bought on impulse years ago, that I don't mind, but for some reason they have never worn, so I am giving them a one month "grace period" and if they are not worn by the beginning of February, they are goneski!!

Bye bye stuff!! You won't be missed!!

Tomorrow the cull and clean will continue...first up I will go through everything I did today to see if unnecessary items made it through, then I will move onto all my hair and body/skincare products (I already saw today that have enough moisturiser to last me till 2020) and then the office which is a very scary place, but it needs to be done!!

I would like to send out a HUGE thank you to all of my twitter friends who have supported me today in getting my hardcore FF on and doing this. :D We all appear to be on the same journey where 2010 is all about cleanse and consolidation, with the aim to make it one of the best years ever, so far so good!! xx

  1. Oh Wow Siany gal! Great effort! You are so much more hardcore than me. I am too shy now to post a pic of the tiny box I am trying to fill with clutter. I cannot part with my nightclub tops of the early-mid noughties! I could clear a whole drawer with those slutty numbers :)
