Finalist # 1

Today we had the really really fun job of going through all of our entries in our Project Be Styled II Competition which is running as part of our Spring/Summer Media Launch!! The entries were amazing.Information on the Competition - We invited amateur photographers (aka never been paid for their work) around Brisbane who are looking to break into the Fashion Photography Industry to send in examples of their work. We then select four finalists from the entries who will then be given one of our Spring/Summer trends. They then have 48 hours to brainstorm their trend and send through a mood board of their ideas along with a choice of photo shoot location. We will then inform our stylists who will pull stock from our stores based on the finalists brief. On the day we will provide a professional model and hair and make-up artist and then give them four hours to shoot four different head-to-toe looks at a location of their choice.

After the shoot, they have 48 hours to get their photos back to us. The finalists prints will then be showcased at our Spring/Summer Media Launch in September at ARIA in front of all the Brisbane Fashion Media who are attending and will vote for their favourite. At the end of the launch an overall winner will be announced. :) Their shots will be used during our Public Spring/Summer Launch and they also take home $2,500 in Westfield Chermside Gift Cards. Not too shabby if you ask me. This could be their big break which is really exciting. ;)Finalist # 3

Choosing our faves from all of the entries was hard, but thankfully we eventually managed to come to a pretty across the board agreement with our final four. We were happy as without us realising we chose two girls and two boys and two who had some study in the field behind them and two who have had no formal training. OMG I cannot tell you how pumped to see the outcomes of their photo shoots. I am going on location with two of them next week to help assist...weeeeee tres excited!! xxFinalist # 4

Love #1 and #3. Are you allowed to say which are professional/amateur??
ReplyDeleteThey are ALL amateur sweets...the top and bottom entries are completely self-taught, the middle two are currently studying photography. Awesome hey?? xx
ReplyDeleteLol augh that's what I meant! I don't know why I wrote professional bahaha. It's amazing that you can't pick it by looking at them.. Photography is totally one of those things though - if you've got it you've got it, regardless of formal training.
